Accomplished pilot tests with wastewater from bioethanol production
We have finished so-called pilot tests in which several tens of liters of wastewater from ethanol production were treated daily. Quite complicated wastewater treatment technology was tested. The main part of the treatment plant was a high-load anaerobic reactor using granular sludge and producing energy-rich biogas from the removed pollution. Other monitored parameters in the process were the concentration of hydrogen sulphide in biogas, the efficiency of precipitating high concentrations of phosphorus in wastewater. After the anaerobic stage, the aerobic part of the treatment plant followed, which ensured water purification, elimination of high nitrogen concentrations and water preparation for reuse back in the process.
